THE MOONLIGHT ONLINE INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL IS INTRODUCING THE TRANS-SECTION AWARD GREAT MOONLIGHT AWARD FOR BEST FILM IN THE FESTIVAL (FEATURE OR SHORT)

In addition to the Moonlight Online Award for Best Film in the Feature Film Competition and the Moonlight Online Award for Best Film in the Short Film Competition, The Moonlight Online International Film Festival is introducing the trans-section award Great Moonlight Award for Best Film in the Festival – which will be the festival’s supreme award (consisting in the festival’s physical trophy) and will be awarded by the festival jury either to the winner of the Moonlight Online Award for Best Film in the Feature Film Competition or to the winner of the Moonlight Online Award for Best Film in the Short Film Competition.

By letting the festival’s supreme trophy award Great Moonlight Award for Best Film in the Festival go to either a feature film or a short film, the festival is defining the competing films’ creative quality as the absolute criterion in the festival jury’s judgement of their artistic value – independently of their length.

In this manner, one feature film and one short film will ultimately compete against each other for winning the festival’s jury-decided supreme trans-section best film award – after having competed in their respective length-specific sections and each one of them having won its section’s jury-decided supreme award Moonlight Online Award for Best Film in the Feature Film Competition and Moonlight Online Award for Best Film in the Short Film Competition respectively.

Consequently, one of all films competing in the festival’s two sections (features and shorts) will take home the jury-decided best film award (consisting in an official award diploma) in its respective feature or short film section, as well as the festival’s jury-decided supreme trans-section best film award (consisting in the festival’s physical trophy).

The idea behind this award concept is that there are no ‘big films’ (features) or ‘small films’ (shorts) – but just GREAT FILMS, with their respective creative and artistic value which deserves equal attention and consideration regardless of their length.
